The Bridge Origins
Founded in 2012, Bridge Cape Ann, then OvaTheBridge.com, was the first social media website in the world geared towards a community. That evolved into dozens of events, relationships with hundreds of businesses & thousands of promotional videos - all funneled through its large online following.
Kory’s Story
I’m a proud Gloucester native—born, raised, and still rooted in this tight-knit seaport where everyone knows each other (and might even be related). I’ve always loved storytelling, whether it was through a paper route at 9 to buy my first computer or taking TV classes at the local cable station in junior high. The creative part came naturally; the tech, not so much.
In high school, I leaned into humor as the class clown and started calling sports games. I went to a small college in Vermont just to get on the radio, but dropped out after trying standup comedy in Boston. That launched a few nomadic years on the road—until I realized I was better at writing jokes than telling them. I ended up scripting for comedians and eventually landed a gig writing for ventriloquist David Strassman and his wisecracking puppet Chuck. That led to eight years of comedy writing.
At the urging of friends, I moved to LA, working for studios like New Wave and Trailer Park—writing bonus features, promos, and more. But after five years, Gloucester called me home.
In 2011, I co-founded OvaTheBridge.com, one of the first hyperlocal social platforms. When my partners moved on, I kept the mission alive on Facebook—connecting local businesses and residents through videos, events, and storytelling. That grew into thousands of videos and a producer role at the same local cable station where I got my start.
Now, in my 50s, I’ve built a home studio, launched new shows, and surrounded myself with great people to help share Gloucester with the world. In many ways, I’ve come full circle—still in my room, on a computer, doing exactly what I love.
